SPOKANE -- Spokane Police detectives think a battery found at the scene of a deadly stabbing Thursday may help them track down their suspect.

Officers believe the car battery was stolen from the area of 1800 E. South Riverton within a few days prior to the stabbing death of Sharlott McGill. That s the same area that the 55 year old Spokane woman was attacked while she walked her dog early Thursday morning.

Before she died, McGill described her attacker as a black man in his 30 s with a bad eye. Police are actively searching for the suspect.

Officers located the stolen battery at the murder scene, and detectives think it may somehow by associated with the suspect.

Anyone who has any information about the stolen battery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 233-TIPS
