BOISE -- It is the most wonderful time of the year for Ballet Idaho and for eight young ladies from Camp Rainbow Gold.

This year, Ballet Idaho decided to add a new twist to the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, by adding special guests to the Party Scene.

Eight young ladies from Camp Rainbow Gold joined Ballet Idaho's cast at Sunday's performance at the Morrison Center.

There's a lot of children's choreography in this and we thought it would be fun to teach them some part of it. And they learned it and they were really good. said Peter Anastos who is the Artistic Director for Ballet Idaho

As a program of the American Cancer Society, Camp Rainbow Gold provides support and services for children diagnosed with cancer and families.

The performers say they were thrilled at the chance to dance in the Christmas classic.

I'm excited because I've never really performed at all. This is really fun to be up there, said one of the girls.

Four young ladies from Camp Rainbow Gold danced in the 12 p.m. matinee and four more performed at the 4:00 p.m. showing.
