BOISE -- A cyclist suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of South Federal Way and East Gowen Road.

Gowen Road was shut down while officers investigated the accident.

Investigators say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time, and appeared to suffer head and leg injuries. The injuries are potentially life-threatening, police said.

He was conscious and alert when taken to a nearby hospital.

Police say it appears the driver of the truck had a green light when entering the intersection.

No citations have been issued.
