Washington State University said Wednesday it will waive this 2014-2015 school year tuition for students whose families are directly affected by the Oso landslide.
In a letter to Darrington mayor Dan Rankin, WSU president Elson Floyd said the waiver will be specific to students whose permanent addresses are in either Oso or Darrington.
It is essential for the entire State to assist in the recovery efforts. We will certainly do our part, said Floyd.
Floyd said the WSU Snohomish County Extension is helping with the evacuation and care of farm animals.
Oso is a small but resilient community that will recover from this great tragedy and rebuild. WSU stands ready to help, said Floyd.
