BOISE -- Lawmakers are considering a bill to create an advisory board to oversee the state treasurer's office.

Senate President Pro-Tem Brent Hill introduced the measure, which was approved by a senate committee.

Last month, state auditors said Ron Crane's office lost $10 million and risked millions more taxpayer dollars from potential losses in ill-advised transactions in 2008.

Treasurer Crane does not agree that his office made a mistake, but he does support the measure to create an advisory board.
