BOISE -- The Idaho County Sheriff's Office says two inmates escaped from the North Idaho Correctional Institution in Cottonwood and may be heading toward southern Idaho.

Deputies say Ridge Scott Dains from Boise and Caleb Joe Thomas from Caldwell escaped just after midnight Saturday morning.

Several agencies searched the area around the prison, but have not been able to find the men.

They say it's possible they were picked up by someone and may be headed toward southern Idaho.

Dains is 21, and described as 5 10 about 140 lbs with hazel eyes and short brown hair.

He has several tattoos. On his right hand he has the words Since 92 across his knuckles, on his right forearm are the words Richard Dains fighting since 1941 with an eagle, and on his back the tattoo reads R.I.P. Kord.

Dains is incarcerated for burglary and has a history of battery, theft, false info to officer, resisting or obstructing, probation violation, possession of controlled substance and other lesser charges.

Thomas is 20 years old. He s 6 1 , 186 lbs with short brown hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of flowers on his left hand, hearts above his right thumb, and Thomas on his left thigh.

Thomas is incarcerated for grand theft, arson and destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence. He has a history of theft, eluding, burglary, possession and delivery of controlled substance and probation violations.

The men may be wearing white T-shirts, brown boots, blue jean jackets and either orange jumpsuits or blue jean pants.

The Idaho County Sheriff encourages everyone to be cautious, lock their doors, remove keys from vehicles and don t pick up hitchhikers.

Anyone witnessing any suspicious activity is advised to call 9-1-1 immediately.
