BOISE -- Thirty-year-old Fazliddin Kurbanov is in the Ada County Jail Thursday, after being indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday. He is an Uzbekistani national, who was living in Boise legally at the time of his arrest.
Kurbanov was arrested and charged on Thursday with giving material support to terrorist and foreign terrorist organization as well as possessing an unregistered destructive device.
On Thursday, FBI agents in protective suits were in and out of an apartment unit at the Glenbrook Apartment Complex near Borah High School. Some neighbors came outside to get a look at what was going on, or sat outside to watch.
Well I've seen all the stuff going on all day today since 10:30 this morning. When I found out what happened on the news just a little bit ago, it was pretty freaky, said Jennie Timmons.
Timmons has lived in these apartments with her kids for the last year and a half.
My oldest daughter goes to school right across the street at Borah High, so it does worry me a lot, Timmons said.
Mohamud Hamud is a Somali refugee.
It makes me surprised, clearly because I know all these people, said Hamud.
He said he has lived here for four years, and says about 80 percent of the apartment complex residents are refugees.
Brett Waklee lives in a house near the apartment complex.
There's a lot of refugee families... I believe that live next door there in the apartments, said Waklee. So no, he wouldn't have stuck out.
Waklee said he is not surprised after what he saw a few months ago.
We noticed across the street interesting looking cars sitting there all hours of the day and night. And they would pull up and another one would pull in, Waklee said.
Waklee told KTVB it started around October, but he had not seen anyone for the last couple months.
We thought, somethings up. I went over and asked them one day just, 'Excuse me, I live across the street. Can I help you?' And he said, 'Just don't worry, you're safe.'
Authorities were letting residents back into their apartments Thursday afternoon, even the units right next to Kurbanov's unit. Authorities said if things were not safe, they would not have let the residents back in.
