NAMPA -- Dozens of jobs were spared in the Nampa School District Tuesday night.

As KTVB has reported, the district has been making steep cuts to school programs and staff to make up for its $5 million budget deficit.

At Tuesday's school board meeting however, the district recommended the board not outsource nutrition service, much to the relief of some of their staff.

Because I have friends who are custodians, and when they basically lost their jobs, I was kind of wondering, well, what's next with nutrition services? said Nampa School District employee Kurt Wallin.

Administrators say they looked over the numbers, and found that contracting out nutrition services would provide no real direct savings for the district.
