BOISE -- The Old Idaho Penitentiary is opening its doors the weekend before Halloween - for the fourth annual Frightened Felons event.
Frightened Felons will offer a glimpse into what life was like at the Old Pen, which started as Idaho's territorial prison and closed in the 1970s.
Actors will bring the spooky past of the old pen to life, and brave visitors can venture through a haunted cell house that has not been open to the public for more than 30 years.
You can tour the facility, learn about the inmates, and see the cells where they stayed. Some people believe the ghosts of prisoners who died there still haunt the site.
The International Paranormal Reporting Group will talk about the Old Pen's paranormal activity.
There will also be a special zombie perfmorance of Thriller each night.
Friday is family night and is recommended for ages 10 and up, while Saturday's adult night is only open to guests 18 and older.
The fun runs from 7-11 each night. Admission is $15 at the door.
For more information, call the Old Pen at 334-2844 or visit the Idaho State Historical Society website.
