COEUR D ALENE, Idaho -- Authorities from the Coeur d Alene Police Department and Kootenai County Sheriff s Office spent several hours at North Idaho College after a student made a veiled threat.

School officials were concerned 33-year-old Patrick Ryan Budig may try to harm students and faculty. Officials said Budig was upset over a discipline issue, and made a statement to a disability counselor Friday referencing Columbine.

Patrick Budig was not located Monday. Police said he knows authorities are looking for him.

Budig had a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday in Spokane that he did not show for. His attorney showed on his behalf.

Officials believe his attorney has been in contact with him.

Budig's attorney has been told Patrick trespassed on NIC and is not to be back on campus. His attorney stated Patrick would not be back on campus.

Extra patrols were set up on the NIC campus.

Because Budig did not make a specific threat, the NIC campus was not locked down Monday, but officers covered all entrances and exits.

Coeur d Alene Police said Budig is wanted in Washington for third degree assault with a weapon, and he has prior arrests for multiple assaults and intimidating a judge.

Detectives believe Budig lives in Spokane and are working with law enforcement officials there to locate him.

Budig is 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information about Budig s whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
