BOISE -- Excessive levels of E. coli bacteria have been found at the Robie Creek Beach access in Lucky Peak Reservoir, according to government officials.
The excess levels of E. coli indicate the presence of human or animal waste, and can pose a health threat to humans. If ingested, the microorganisms can cause diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. The young and elderly are most susceptible to getting sick.
To be safe, the Department of Environmental Quality recommends that you don't swim in that area.
Warning signs have been posted at the beach. Consider Barclay Bay Beach or Sandy Point Beach as an alternative.
The source of the bacteria is unknown at this time.
