BOISE -- Hero 2 Hired is a chance for those serving in the military to ease back into civilian work.

The event is a one-day job fair for military veterans, active duty military and families, and guard and reserve members. Tuesday's fair will be held at the Riverside Hotel in Garden City from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Former airman Billy Roeder, lives in Mountain Home and went to the job fair last year. He found a job right away.

There was no lag time, said Roeder. I am very blessed.

Last year it was held at the Idaho Center with 135 potential employers on hand. Idaho Power was one of those employers.

Roeder spent 21 years of his life training others on F-15 jets. But now, after attending the Hero 2 Hire job fair he now trains linemen at Idaho Power. He said he received help, but being prepared is important too.

You have got to do it yourself as well, said Roeder. You have got to make sure you prepare yourself.

At first, Roeder described the event as a little overwhelming but found there was staff on hand to help him build up his resume, which gave him, confidence to apply for jobs.

It s almost like I didn t transition from the military, it s just they, it s been great, he said.

He filled out an application with Idaho Power and described the partnership as a good fit.

Oh I love it, love it.
