BOISE - An early morning fire closed Sun Valley lifts and runs Saturday.

A Sun Valley spokesperson says the fire caused significant damage to a snowmaking and cell tower structure at the top of the Flying Squirrel lift at Sun Valley's Bald Mountain Ski Area.

Officials say while the damage was extensive, it won't have a big impact on resort operations since Lift 9 was rarely used and the majority of snowmaking capabilities remain intact.

No one was injured because of the fire.

Access to the Warms Springs side, Greyhawk and Challenger Lifts, and ski runs are temporarily closed as they clean up.

The Laura Flood / Cheeso Memorial Race has been canceled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
