BOISE Boise Police say a quick-thinking store employee helped officers locate an armed robbery suspect Tuesday afternoon.

At 4:22 p.m. dispatchers were alerted to a crime that had just occurred at the Famous Footwear at 518 N. Milwaukee Street, near Westpark Street.

A store employee told police that a woman walked into the store, showed the clerk a handgun and demanded money. She fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The crime was reported to police just moments after it occurred and officers began searching the area for a woman, who was described as a light-skinned female in her 30s, with blond hair tucked into a gray beanie, wearing sunglasses, a gray coat and carrying a large pink and gray bag.

The presence of mind of the victim, reporting the crime quickly with an accurate suspect description, and the quick response of officers made all the difference in finding this suspect so quickly, said Sgt. Jeff Basterrechea of the Boise Police Patrol Division.

About 10 minutes later, two officers spotted 33-year-old Kellie Drake of Boise, who fit the suspect s description, in the lobby of a hotel on the 7900 block of West Emerald, just around the corner from where the robbery occurred. They made contact with her and found evidence she is the person they were looking for.

Drake was booked into the Ada County Jail on robbery, burglary, and felon in possession of a firearm charges.
