BOISE Tuesday brought another day of triple-digit record temperatures to the Treasure Valley.

As thousands try to cool down, we're learning that sometimes the heat can help or hinder a business.

Many sought relief at Barber Park and the Boise River on such a hot day. Steve Zeller with Epley s Boise River Rentals said when things heat up, they can expect a rush in business.

It has been hot; a lot of people have decided to hit the river, he said. Monday was pretty solid, but we are really anticipating the weekend to be big for us.

Epley said Sunday was already a big day for their business, and it probably wasn t even the hottest day of the year. As the Fourth of July holiday nears, Zeller expects more traffic at his raft rental shop.

We are really fortunate to be in Boise with the river and have a place to cool off, and it s just a neat thing to have. So, we can always anticipate once it hits a 100 (degrees) we are going to be busy regardless of what day it is, said Zeller.

If the river doesn t suit you, there is a chance you may find relief from the scorching sun at Idaho Ice World in Boise.

Idaho Ice World General Manager Kevin Barnes said attendance for public skate jumped 50 percent on Monday and another percent on top of that for Tuesday.

He said the ice, is a frosty 20 degrees and the air inside the rink runs at about 60 degrees. Parents who were watching their kids skate, were even found in t-shirts enjoying the cooler air.

However, for an activity that is big in the summer, such as golf-- the heat hurts business.

It sucks the life out of you out there, said Assistant Golf Pro at Warm Springs Golf Course, Matt Rippy.

He said, it s in the morning hours you will find golfers, but when the afternoon sun comes around, People finish up and leave and its quiet for the rest of the day.

While he admits the heat is not helpful to what should be a stellar season of golf, he also said triple digit temperatures are expected in Boise.

It hurts a little bit but it s to be expected I mean I am sure if you talked to the other golf courses it would be about the same, said Rippy.

He also said people are being cautious and who can blame them.

Warm Springs Golf Course has afternoon and evening specials if you want to book a tee time, Rippy encourages golfers to call them at 208-343-5661.
