MOSCOW, Idaho-- Some University of Idaho students are earning high praise for fixing an important piece of equipment at the Buck Knives manufacturing plant in Post Falls. The repair was part of the students' senior project. However, the project was so good that company leaders decided to put the UI idea to use.

Buck Knives makes more than 2,000,000 knives a year. However, leaders said they were taking a big hit when their pin-inserter machine went on the fritz in September.

We had a piece of equipment that we knew could work better, but we didn't really have time to take it offline and figure it out, said Buck Knives President C.J. Buck.

Buck Knives leaders handed over the machine to students at the University of Idaho who fixed it.
