GOODING, Idaho -- Police in south-central Idaho say one of two suspects in the stabbing death of a 24-year-old man in Gooding has been arrested in Salt Lake City.
Gooding Police Chief Jeff Perry tells The Times-News that 25-year-old Hugo Mendez Gutierrez will have to go through a formal extradition process and he doesn't know when he will be returned to Idaho. Gutierrez was arrested on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder.
Perry says officers believe the second suspect also has left the state. His name has not been released.
The two men were being sought after Alejandro Perez Lopez was dropped off at North Canyon Medical Center at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday by two men in a black pickup. Surveillance video in the area helped officers identify the men.
