BOISE -- Boise Police are calling 35-year-old Shawn Fisher a person of interest in the shooting death of 28-year-old Matthew Mohler-Kerns.

Fisher was arrested soon after a shooting on Franklin Road Monday night. Police say someone found Mohler-Kerns after 8 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head. He was sitting in the driver's seat of his car. Mohler-Kerns died a short time later at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

On Thursday, family members of Mohler-Kerns emailed his picture to KTVB.

The 28-year-old was a Boise State graduate, who his coworkers described as determined and kind.

Mohler-Kerns was working at the Murphy's Seafood and Steakhouse before he was shot.

Kevin Martinez, who oversees the Boise and Meridian Ram restaurant locations and Murphy's in Boise, has known Mohler-Kerns for five years. He said Mohler-Kerns started as a cook at the Boise Ram to help pay his way through college, then he moved to management in the Meridian Ram. For the last year, Mohler-Kerns worked at Murphy's. He was scheduled to be at work there Tuesday.

He was a real nice guy, said Martinez. Had a lot of friends, typical 28-year-old out of college. He'd just enrolled in a masters program at BSU. He would have graduated there, and he would have went on and done real well with his life. He was real motivated guy, real hard working guy.

Martinez said he found out when their chef called this morning, saying a detective came to the restaurant.

It was awful, said Martinez. I couldn't believe it. It was just awful, awful thing to happen to a nice young guy.

He said all the folks who worked with Mohler-Kerns are sad and shocked, The team feels the loss of a family member.

Police are still trying to figure out how Mohler-Kerns was involved in events earlier that night with Fisher, or if he was just an innocent bystander.
