BOISE -- Idaho Lottery officials say a Powerball ticket worth $1 million has gone unclaimed.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Maverik store at the corner of Locust Grove and McMillan roads in Meridian on the night before the June 20th drawing.

The ticket expired Friday afternoon because it went unclaimed for 180 days.

Officials say it was a $2 quick pick. By law, once the ticket expires, the Idaho Lottery cannot pay out the prize.

With the gift giving season quickly upon us, we cannot emphasize enough for players to check their tickets carefully after each and every draw for winners, said Idaho Lottery Director Jeff Anderson. With a holiday themed line up of scratch tickets and the Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle close to selling out, we want to remind players this season to sign their tickets and check them carefully for winners.

However, Maverik, Inc. will receive a $20,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery for selling the ticket.

The unclaimed prize of $1 million goes to a fund dedicated to Idaho public schools and permanent buildings.
