CALDWELL, Idaho -- A 3-year-old Caldwell boy who drowned in Caldwell creek Sunday afternoon has been identified

The Canyon County coroner completed an autopsy today on Drake Moser. The cause of death was confirmed as drowning and no foul play is suspected.

Dispatchers with the Canyon County Sheriff's Office say the boy was reported missing around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Sheriff's deputies say the child's mother was playing with the boy and another child in the creek when the 3-year-old was swept away. The boy's body was later recovered from Indian Creek near Maverick and Sage drives west of the Caldwell Airport.

Caldwell deputy fire chief Steve Donahue said streams like Indian Creek may not look forceful, but water pushing up against debris can create a force that's difficult even for adults to overcome.

Small creeks like this, all the irrigation canals, the drainages, some of the ponds around the area - they're not designed for people to be swimming in, said Donahue.

The child was reportedly wearing a life jacket.

No criminal charges will be filed in this case.
