GRANGEVILLE, Idaho -- Former Republican gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidate Rex Rammell says he is leaving Idaho and moving to Wyoming.

Rammell told The Lewiston Tribune he and his family will move to Torrington, Wyo., next week.

The 51-year-old veterinarian and former elk rancher says he has taken a job in the livestock industry and is ready for a change of scenery.

Last month, Rammell was beaten in the primary election in his bid for the Idaho House of Representatives, his third run for elective office since 2007.

Rammell also made headlines for his actions outside the political sphere, including his elk poaching conviction last year.

He also has an appeal with the Idaho Supreme Court over his dustup with former Gov. Jim Risch over operations at his eastern Idaho elk ranch.
