BOISE -- A man with ties to the new Idaho Aquarium and the owner of Coral Fanatics based in Middleton has pleaded guilty to federal charges of shipping and selling live coral to buyers around the world.
According to court documents obtained by KTVB, Christopher Conk is charged with a felony count of smuggling goods from the United States, and misdemeanor charges of trafficking wildlife and violating the Endangered Species Act.
According to Ammon Covino with the Idaho Aquarium, none of the coral in question was purchased for the new aquarium.
Covino says Conk is a volunteer at the Aquarium.
Conk is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in March.
