BOISE, Idaho-- The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is working with Buy Idaho to stock park gift shops with products made in Idaho.

Parks and Recreation spokeswoman Jennifer Blazek tells The Spokesman-Review that the agency contacted Buy Idaho about four months ago with a plan to replace imported items offered at parks with Idaho products.

She says it's an opportunity to showcase Idaho goods.

Idaho's 18 parks draw about 2.5 million visitors a year, with about a third of them being nonresidents.

Parks and Recreation is working to identify products that could have statewide appeal, or that would work for a single park.
