BOISE -- People had their eyes opened to the dangers of distracted driving Saturday.

Allstate Insurance organized the event, and setup a Jeep with an LCD screen, then drivers were asked to get behind the wheel and try to drive while being distracted by their peers.

This is a 40 city tour to raise awareness of the dangers of driving while distracted.

What people may not realize is that an average text takes five seconds, and if you were trying 55 miles an hour that would be like trying the entire length of the blue here at Bronco Stadium blind, said Clark Nielsen, Allstate Agent.

Organizers say, this this could save lives, and that every year 3,000 people die on the roads from distracted driving, while another 4,000 are hurt.
