BOISE -- If you'd like to be Boise's new community ombudsman, you have until 5 p.m. Friday to submit your application.

So far the city has received 29 applications for the post, which has been open since Pierce Murphy left last summer for a similar job in Seattle.

Murphy was Boise's first ombudsman and served in the position for 14 years.

The job was created in 1999, after a series of incidents and complaints involving Boise Police.

A spokesman for Mayor Bieter says the mayor will choose the best-suited candidate, who will then need to be confirmed by the city council.
