BOISE COUNTY -- An elderly couple had to be cut out of their car on Saturday night, after flipping off Highway 21 near Wilderness Ranch.

The initial call came in as a car in the river, but the car hit a tree which kept it on dry land.

Boise County Deputy David Lee spoke to KTVB about what happened once he arrived on scene.

When I arrived, the ambulance was already here with the extrication equipment. They were cutting the individuals out, said Lee. I assisted with helping the individuals come back up onto the pavement here, into the ambulances.

Despite the car being heavily damaged, the couple, in their mid-70's, only received minor injuries.

Deputies are still investigating why their car left the road in the first place.
