CALDWELL -- Nearly two months after a Caldwell man died in police custody, officials have released information about what contributed to his death.

Following the return of pathology and toxicology reports. the Canyon County coroner determined 33-year-old Anthony Firkins Junior suffered from excited delirium, with acute methamphetamine intoxication.

The coroner says these were only contributing factors to his death not the cause, and that the manner of death remains undetermined.

Firkins Jr died following a pursuit with the Nampa Police Department on April 19.

Police say he stopped breathing after he was taken into custody. He was treated by paramedics and then taken to a local hospital where he died.

The incident remains under investigation.
