A camera mounted on the helmet worn by a member of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Helicopter and Search and Rescue Team recorded Monday's rescue of an injured backcountry hiker from the Boulder River trail near Oso.

The video offers a unique perspective of the airlift operation.

The female hiker (whose age and hometown are unknown) was injured on Sunday and was waiting with companions about three miles up the trail in heavy timber and steep terrain.

SCSAR and the Oso and Darrington Fire Department crews responded on the ground to the location and waited with the injured woman.

At around 8 a.m, the rescue helicopter SnoHawk 10 airlifted the victim and an attendant, using a short-haul system, from the trail to a field near Highway 530. The victim was then loaded into the helicopter and transported to Providence Hospital in Everett.
