MCCALL -- Brundage Mountain plans to continue its tradition of staying open longer than many other ski resorts in Idaho.

Resort operators expect the 1,500-acre resort to stay open through April 14. Summit snowpack is currently 89 inches.

Communications manager AprilRussell says Brundage Mountain typically operates from Mid-December through the second Sunday in April. However, they say resort operators believe they can give visitors a quality experience daily through April 14, 2013.

Our coverage and snow depths are looking really good right now, Russell said. We ve got 51 inches in the base area and 89 inches up on the summit, so unless the weather goes really wild, we ll be in great shape through April 14.

The resort doesn't have any firm plans to host 'bonus' weekends just yet.

Brundage has stayed open until mid-May in previous years. Last year, the resort closed on April 21.

The resort has received 190 of snowfall so far this season, which is more than neighboring resorts Bogus Basin, Tamarack, and Sun Valley.

The summit elevation of Brundage is 7,640 feet, with an overall vertical drop of 1,800 feet. The area's annual average snowfall is 300 350 inches.
