BOISE -- Celebrating fitness, friendship, and education, the second-annual FitOne event happens September 18th through the 20th.

The three-day event includes 5k, 10k, and half-marathon races.There's also health seminars, food and entertainment, along with more than 100 exhibitors focused on overall health and wellbeing.

New this year, organizers are emphasizing participation from the whole the family in every race. The push completes FitOne's transition from the Women's Fitness Celebration, as it was formerly known. There's also a renewed emphasis on the whole family taking part in the fesitives, along with the addition of a half-marathon event this year.

FitOne is partnering with St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise. Individual participants can create a personal fundraising page or a team fundraising page to donate to St. Luke's Children's Hospital (but are not required to). You can also join KTVB's team, 7's Sisters!

New for 2013, the event has partnered with the University of Idaho to host the Healthy Schools Cup. Participating schools can encourage children to form teams of students, parents, and teachers, and compete for cash prizes to benefit their school's physical education programs.

The mission statement of FitOne is to inspire women andfamilies to come to the starting line every September and encourage progressive steps in a healthy direction throughout theyear. Organizers say theevent will continue to provide further opportunities to inspire women, children and families to become active participants of fun, healthy living - ultimately building healthier communities.


FitOne offers several 5Kwaves starting at 8:52 a.m. in front of the Idaho Statehouse on Saturday, September 21. The race ends in Ann Morrison Park.

  • 5K Red Wave (Competitive Run)
  • 5K Green Wave (Competitive Stroller Division)
  • 5K Fit & Fun Purple Wave (non-competitive run or walk, no wheels)
  • 5K Fit & Fun Blue Wave (non-competitive run or walk, no Wheels)
  • 5K Family Wave presented by Chobani (Orange Wave - family/stroller/all wheels division)

The FitOne 9K women's-only race begins at 8:39 a.m. at the old IdahoPenitentiary. The race merges with the 5K race at the Boise Art Museum. Race day registration is not available for the 9K event.

For participants looking for a shorter option, they may follow theFitOne.2 course,a 1.2-mile course that starts with the 5k,thenruns along the Greenbelt from the Boise Library to Ann Morrison Park. Participants in competitive waves may not follow the FitOne.2 course if they want to qualify for an age group medal.

Participants in both the 5K and 9K events, children and adults alike, will have a stickered timing chip included on their bib at no extra cost. Through the ChronoTrack timing chip, participants can take advantage of some fun new ways to share their race day experience with friends and family. The chip will offer participants access to course photos and real-time mobile results.

Please pick up your t-shirt, participant number, and other event materials at the FitOne Expo on September 19th or 20th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boise Centre. T-shirts and participant numbers are also available for pick up the morning of the event at the day-of registration booth in Capitol Park, starting at 7 a.m.

The FitOne awards ceremony begins shortly after 10:00 a.m. on the main stage in Ann Morrison Park. Participants over 70-years old and age group winners will be recognized during the awards ceremony.


Participants can catch a free shuttle from the Boise Towne Square Mall to the 5K race start line beginningat 6:45 a.m. on Saturday. The shuttles will run until 8:15 a.m.

Reservation-only shuttles are available from St. Luke's Hospital in Nampa. Shuttles for the 9K race are available at the St. Luke's Shoreline Facility in Boise and begin running at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.

Return shuttles will depart from Ann Morrison Park starting at 10 a.m.
