An inmate at the South Boise Women s Correctional Center has died at a Boise hospital days after an apparent suicide attempt.

Janeal Walker, 29, was found hanging in her room Sunday at about 11:45 a.m. Staff and paramedics tried to resuscitate her, but Walker died Wednesday morning.

The woman had been convicted of three counts of possession of a controlled substance, and would have been eligible for parole in November. Her full-term release date was Oct. 31 2021.

The Idaho Department of Corrections has asked the Ada County Sheriff's Office to assist in the investigation into Walker's death.
