TWIN FALLS -- An Idaho soldier received the Purple Heart medal Thursday.

Army Sergeant Amy Brice was wounded in action in Iraq back in 2005.

First Lady Lori Otter was among the dignitaries on hand today to pay tribute to Brice.

The Twin Falls resident was deployed with the Idaho Army National Guard when an improvised explosive device blew up next to her convoy.

Brice suffered a head injury in the explosion.

Finally people are being recognized for having traumatic brain injuries and I'm happy that I can finally receive mine and start some closure in my life with it., said Brice.

Brice says she dealt with memory problems during her recovery.

The injury didn't deter her from the war zone though, she was deployed to Iraq again in 2010.
