GLENNS FERRY -- A man standing alongside Interstate 84 was killed when he was hit by a semi truck Saturday night, police said.

Idaho State Police say they were called to the scene of the crash, five miles east of Glenns Ferry, a little after 8 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, 32-year-old Jason Richmond, of Midvale, Utah, was standing outside his 2012 Jeep Patriot on the driver's side, assisting a tow truck operator in removing his vehicle from the interstate.

Police say a semi driven by Volodymyr Boyko, of Portland, Oregon, hit Richmond, killing him.

The crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police.
