BOISE -- KTVB first reported on the Facebook confessions page targeting Borah High School last week. We were also the first to alert the school district about the anonymous and often shocking comments being posted by students. Now, a little more than a week later, similar confessions pages are popping up all across the Treasure Valley, with the same questionable content.

A parent tip alerted the Middleton School District of a Facebook confessions page about Middleton High.

We began the process of investigating. Roughly an hour and half, hour and 45 minutes later, it was removed, said Dr. Mike Friend, Middleton Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Friend said they don't know if Facebook agreed to take the page down, or if the page's creator took it down.

There was some definite cyberbullying, there were comments made about teachers and other staff members that were very derogatory, said Friend.

Dr. Friend said he is concerned about how the hurtful posts might impact students, and he said they are working to figure out who created the page.

We reported on Lion Confessions last week. Now we've seen similar pages for Eagle High School and Mountain View High School. In the last 24 hours, someone even created a Facebook confessions page for the city of Boise.

We talked with Boise School District spokesperson Dan Hollar on the phone today, he would not go on camera. Hollar said he hasn't seen, but has heard about Facebook confessions pages dealing with Boise School District schools, like Capital High School. Hollar said he believes the media reporting may be contributing the creation of the pages. He also said Borah High has asked Facebook to take down Lion Confessions, and Facebook has not taken the page down.

Dr. Friend of the Middleton District thinks there need to be controls put on social media from sources other than the school. The confessions page case in Middleton has been turned over to the school resource officer and the Canyon County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
