CALDWELL -- A grand jury has indicted a 27-year-old Caldwell man who is accused of shooting two Canyon County deputies.

It was back on Oct. 24 when Kyle Batt got into a shootout with deputies.

The indictment claims Batt was not allowed to have a firearm because of a previous conviction, and that he also obliterated the serial number on his gun.

His arraignment is set for next Monday.

Batt will be federally charged and tried before Canyon County can charge him with allegedly shooting the deputies.
