BOISE -- The family of an Idaho soldier who was killed in action during the Vietnam War was presented with the Purple Heart medal.

Chief Warrant Officer Jesse Phelps went missing in action in 1965 after his helicopter was shot down over Vietnam.

His body was finally discovered in 2008 and brought home to be laid to rest in 2009.

Last month, Dolores Phelps of Lowman accepted the Purple Heart on behalf of her late husband.

The Idaho National Guard has worked closely with Phelps's family since 2009 to assist them through the honorable transfer, interment and Purple Heart presentation.
