BOISE -- Bogus Basin will open Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

Bogus Basin General ManagerMike Shirley said the mountain will be open from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Four chairlifts will be taking skiers and boarders up the mountain.

Spokesperson Gretchen Anderson said the snow was falling at more than one inch per hour in the mountains. They've gotten nine to ten inches of snow already in this latest storm.

The snow storm dumping inches on the Treasure Valley is welcomed by employees at the ski resort.

We employ about 600 people every season, so all of those people have been in a holding pattern since mid-November, said Anderson on the phone. So it's been tough on everyone. This is like a collective sigh of relief.

Anderson said they like to open the mountain when it gets about 24 inches of new, packable snow. In the past, they have been able to open the front side with about 16 inches.

Bogus Basin planned a 'Louder for Powder' get-together on Wednesday night. The party is meant to lift the spirits of skiers and snowboarders itching to make their way up the mountain. The event is free, open to the public, and will feature live music. Everyone is encouraged to dress as if they are hitting the slopes. The party goes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Basque Block.
