BOISE -- A northern Idaho woman who drove hundreds of miles with a pipe bomb strapped underneath her vehicle says she does not believe her husband plotted her murder -- even though federal prosecutors allege 65-year-old Edgar Steele did just that.
Steele's wife, Cyndi Steel, testified Friday in his federal trial in Boise. Steele, a former Aryan Nations lawyer, is accused of hiring Larry Fairfax to kill his wife and mother-in-law and faces decades in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors say they have recordings of Fairfax and Steele discussing the plot.
Steele contends those recording are fakes and that he's been set up by the federal government.
His wife testified that she has listened to the recordings and they confirm her belief that Steele is innocent.
