KUNA -- A 9-year-old Kuna boy suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning after being struck by an SUV, according to the AdaCounty Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened just before 7:30 a.m. in a driveway near several businesses on Linder Road.

According to reports, the boy darted in front of an SUV and was struck at a very low speed. The impact knocked the boy from his bike, causing him to hit his head. Officers say he was not wearing a helmet.

The boy was taken to an area hospital to be checked out.

Police say the boy was on his way to school when the crash happened.

A Kuna police officer gave the boy a helmet to use the next time he rides his bike.

The driver of the SUV won't be cited.
