VALE, Ore. -- Oregon State Police say a Parma couple is dead after a farm truck and car collided on Highway 20 east of Vale Sunday morning.
OSP Sgt. Bob Wilson says that a 1973 Ford F600 farm truck driven by a 72-year-old Aquilino Castilleja Martinez pulled onto Highway 20 around 9:14 a.m. and was accelerating to get in the westbound lane when it was struck in the rear by 1999 Dodge Intrepid.
Police say there is no evidence that shows the driver of the Dodge braked before impact. The driver, 56-year-old John Hendricks, and his wife, 52-year-old Angela Hendricks, of Parma, died at the scene. Their 13-year-old daughter, Jianni Hendricks, and the truck driver were taken by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario, where they were both treated and released from the hospital.
Oregon State Police collision reconstructions were called to the scene and are continuing to investigate.
The highway between Vale and Ontario was closed for about four hours.
