BOISE -- Many of you have received grocery bags and postcards in the mail reminding you to help Stamp Out Hunger.

It's for a food drive happening this Saturday.

Today, Boise Mayor Dave Bieter declared Saturday as Letter Carrier Food Drive Day.

To pitch in, all you need to do is put non-perishable food items in the bag, and leave it by your mailbox Saturday morning.

Your letter carrier will pick it up and make sure it gets to the Idaho Foodbank.

Karen Vauk, the Foodbank's CEO, tells us that while Idaho's unemployment rate has dropped, the struggle to put food on the table continues for many families.

While more people are able to find work, it may be part-time, it may be at a lower income level than they had previously realized, said Vauk.

This is the 21st year for the Letter Carrier Food Drive.

This year's goal is to collect 200,000 pounds of food, or enough for about 167,000 meals.
