COEUR D'ALENE -- The Idaho Attorney General's office has filed a $750,000 lawsuit against a defunct northern Idaho coin store and those associated with it contending they violated state consumer protection laws.
The Spokesman-Review reports that the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Kootenai County District Court names CoiNuts Inc., owner Kevin E. Mitchell of Hayden, and his stepdaughter, Sarah M. Mitchell of Hayden.
State prosecutors are seeking restitution for 18 customers who say the Coeur d'Alene coin shop failed to deliver gold and silver paid for in advance.
Authorities say one customer paid $103,800 for 60 gold coins but received two coins and was not refunded the remaining $100,340.
Lawsuits against the coin shop brought by former customers have led to default judgments worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
