SEATTLE -- A collision that resulted in gallons of resin glue spilling across Interstate 5 in Federal Way Wednesday night was still affecting traffic during the Thursday morning commute.

The spill happened just before 7 p.m. Wednesday when the semi carrying two trailers the glue slammed into a disabled minivan near the State Route 18 interchange.

The driver of the minivan, a 56-year-old woman from Federal Way, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

At least three lanes were closed overnight while Washington State Department of Transportation workers cleaned up the freeway. One state trooper said it was so sticky, their vehicles had to have their tires pressure washed before they could leave the scene.

The State Patrol said the acceleration lane off the ramp from State Route 18 to northbound I-5 will be closed all morning. Drivers can still use the ramp to I-5, but they will have to merge before they have a chance to accelerate to freeway speed.

WSP is investigating the collision and interviewing witnesses.
