BOISE -- Former Idaho Gov. Phil Batt was on the stage at the Egyptian Theatre Thursday night, but he wasn't speaking about any legislation or politics. Batt performed on his clarinet with about 200 junior high and elementary school children.

The performance honored the 150th anniversary of Boise's founding. Batt wrote one of the songs in the program, called 'Centennial Idaho,' for the state's Centennial back in 1990.

Batt loves that kids are celebrating the state and the capital city. As you know, we have a wonderful state and a lot of history involved in it... Our history is just so marvelous, especially Boise. And, a lot of the songs tonight are about Boise.

The students performing attend Morley Nelson Elementary, North Junior High and West Junior High.
