BOISE -- The University of Idaho is detailing changes made following the death of graduate student Katy Benoit, who was gunned down a year ago by a professor she had previously dated.

School officials say a granite bench has been placed on the Moscow campus as a memorial to Benoit and will be dedicated on Tuesday, the eve of the first anniversary of her death. A student safety forum is also planned in her name.

The changes are part of a settlement reached between the university and Benoit's family, which received $375,000 in exchange for dropping all legal claims against school officials. The family said the money would be donated to charity.

Benoit had complained to the university about professor Ernesto Bustamante, saying he had pointed a loaded gun at her head.
