MERIDIAN -- Police say a Meridian man riding his bicycle on Saturday was struck and badly injured by an inattentive driver.

Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea told KTVB that 48-year-old Lance Lewis was riding his bike in the bike lane when he was hit and injured by 47-year-old Rhonda Herriot from Kuna at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Basterrechea says Lewis was riding his bike near the intersection of Rosalyn and Meridian Roads when Herriot hit him from behind.

Lewis' father tells KTVB that Lewis suffered a broken arm and leg, and facial injuries due to the accident, and is currently at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise.

Herriot was charged with inattentive driving.
