BOISE -- Fifty soldiers from the Idaho National Guard's 116th Calvary Brigade returned home to Boise Monday morning.
The soldiers spent the last nine months serving in Iraq, but today they were reunited with their families at Gowen Field.
For one soldier, it was an emotional reunion. Monday was the second time he has seen his son, Conner, in person.
I m really excited to be home and to raise my little guy now, said Spc. Heering, who returned home Monday.
Conner was born during his deployment. He was able to meet his son for the first time during a mid-tour leave several months ago.
About forty more soldiers are on their way home now to Twin Falls and Idaho Falls.
On September 4, the first charter flight of 30 soldiers returned to Boise. The soldiers will be returning in waves over the next several weeks.
