ONTARIO, Ore. - Police are searching for a 21-year-old Ontario man they believe stabbed his father to death outside an apartment complex Monday night.

Officers responding to the report of an assault at 555 NW 9th Street in Ontario found 39-year-old Gregory Escobedo Sr. of Ontario with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His son, 21-year-old Gregory Escobedo Jr., is wanted in connection with the death, and a felony warrant for murder has been issued for him.

Police say the father and son got into a fight at a home nearby. For some reason the fight poured over into an apartment complex where the father had a friend.

It was at the base of the stairs that witnesses says the stabbing happened around 9 p.m. Monday.

It made me a little nervous, especially when I heard somebody outside the window say they didn't know where he was, that he had like ran off, said Mary, who saw the ambulance drive away.

The younger Escobedo is considered armed and dangerous, and police have cautioned the public not to approach him. Oregon State Police, the Oregon State Police Crime Lab and the Malheur County Sheriff s Office are assisting in the investigation.

Police say there are no known vehicles associated with Escobedo Jr. He is believed to still be in the Ontario area.

Anyone who knows where the suspect is or has information about the killing should contact the Ontario Police Department at 541-889-7266.
