MOSCOW -- The Moscow Chamber of Commerce is asking the Idaho Republican Party not to move its state convention out of the northern Idaho city.

The Moscow-Pullman Daily News reports that the Moscow chamber on Friday sent an email to state and regional party representatives noting that many hotels have turned away other opportunities because of reservations associated with the state GOP convention in June.

Executive Director Gina Taruscio in the email also says that besides the financial impact there would be an emotional impact to the community.

Party leaders are considering moving the convention due to a conflict between the leader of the state's dominant political party and a local GOP official.

A telephone conference for GOP leaders across Idaho is set for next week to discuss moving the convention.
