BOISE -- The Boise Police Department has released the identity of a 24-year-old man suspected of striking and killing a pedestrian on State Street Friday morning.

Officials say 24-year-old Adam Weinert is accused of hitting a man who was walking across the road at approximately 1:15 Friday morning then driving away.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Weinert is believed to have been driving a light gold colored Ford Ranger pickup at the time of the crash.

Police say based on evidence gathered at the scene and through citizen tips, officers identified Weinert as the suspect.

They are searching for him and encourage him to turn himself in, and anyone with information on where Weinert may be is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
